Something from the front garden at the Chitwood abode, not to be confused with a Champagne Supernova.

February Rain

by Scott ChitwoodWednesday February 9th, 2011

Two years ago we had hellacious amounts of rain that seemed to start in February and didn’t let up until we hit mid-summer, seems like we may have even doubled our normal share rainfall over the course of things.  Of course this presented the perfect opportunity to break out the Home Biolab Kit™ and splice some duck genes into my DNA; sadly no webbed feet or water-repellent qualities were achieved, just an awkward feather protruding from my left nasal cavity…

The trifecta method was used for post processing: iPhoto + PostworkShop + Photoshop.

Snowy Log

An ode to Winter from snow draped banks of the Meramec River.  If you look closely you just might find a trio of frog-like formations gathered along the hollow.

Long Crested Eagle no.3

Another shot of the coolest raptor at the World Bird Sanctuary, an African Long Crested Eagle named Chrys.  Wanting to take a different approach with this image I fired up PostworkShop 1.1 with a half-formed idea to find a texture and brush style to complement Chrys’ feathered crest and was happily surprised with quick results.  The effected image was then additionally post processed in Photoshop to tweak the color to a nice warm brown.

Hey it’s Autumnal Equinox 2010™.  w00t, w00t!  You can play along at home as the sun crosses the celestial equator and day and night are of equal length for just a short while — party on and be excellent to each other my temporal little friends.

From the Garden

Egad, my last post was way back on April 29th.  I didn’t intend to be AWOL, it just sort of happened that my creativity slumped, nose dived, and crashed in a big mess of nothingness.  As luck would have it, Saturday morning rain showers on our Tiger Lillies in the front garden presented an opportunity to post a summery desktop image.
