Just a little something fun with the Mac OS X Finder :^)

At the moment, one can only wildy speculate what new form and feature set the venerable file management system will take on with the nearly imminent announcement/release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Will brushed metal find itself on the scrap pile? Will the new Finder be a refinement of its current state or will it be dramatically different, rendering the current desktop metaphor obsolete and old fashioned?

This one is dedicated to Mac users everywhere who fondly remember and continue to use Mac OS 9 as their primary or secondary operating system — I’m quite happy to be counted amongst that special group :^)

Here’s the short list of my personal Apple hardware and corresponding OS installs. Everything does boot up and operate, though it must be noted that the last four items are packed away in boxes awaiting an honoured place in a happy little Mac shrine.

  • Quicksilver 2002 Power Mac G4 – Mac OS X 10.4.8 and Mac OS 9.2.2
  • iBook G4 – Mac OS X 10.4.8
  • iMac G3 – Mac OS 9.2.2
  • Power Mac 7300/200 – Mac OS 9.2.2
  • PowerBook 1400 – Mac OS 8.0
  • Quadra 950 – System 7.5.3

Stealing Aqua

So what the heck does “Stealing Aqua” imply? I don’t really have a clue, the name just seems to fit. The spheres were ripped out of the original Bryce image and dropped back on top of the surface plane after it was tossed around in Photoshop with Xenofex Crumple and KPT Pyramid Paint. The bottom layer was desaturated and then given a dose of Eye Candy Swirl.
